Only Dreaming

Before beginning ngaji bandungan, Kyai Manan told a funny story about his friend, Kyai Dul. The santri (students) heard seriously. He told that Kyai Manan had had another woman. Kyai Manan had got slingkuh.

So the santri got more serious.

"One day", Kyai  Manan began his story, "Kyai Manan was sleeping together with his wife, Nyai Siti".

The santri looked very seriously. Some of them looked opening their mouths... mlongo.

"About at two, at night, Kyai Dul smiled himself while he was in sleeping. And his smilings made Nyai Siti got up".

"Nyai Siti kicked Kyai Dul soon!", told Kyai Manan.

"Kyai Dul got hurried !", added Kyai Manan.

"Do you know the next, santri?", asked Kyai Manan to his santri.

"Mboten, kyai .... No, kyai", answered the santri almost together.

"Well. Kyai Dul dreamt only", said Kyai Manan.

"Kyai Dul only dreamt. He had dreamt making loves with another woman", told Kyai Manan.

"After drinking a glass of water, Kyai Dul told his wife that he had made loves with another woman in his dreamt".

"Then Kyai Dul said so sorry to his wife", told Kyai Manan.

"Do you know the next story, santri..?", asked Kyai Manan.

"Mboten, kyai...", answered the santri together.

"The next is ...let's learn... ngaji... Open your kitab", said Kyai Manan.

Some of santri was still mlongo.

ACCULTURATION in JAVA

There are acculturation in Java by looking their calender. These are some facts of acculturation processes happened in Javanese society. 

• There are  pieces of Arabic Culture, like names of days - Ahad, Senin, Selasa, etc.
• and names of months, like Ramadlan, Syawwal, etc.
• There are  pieces of West Culture, like names of months, like Agustus (August)
• and numbers, like 1,2,3,4,5,6, ect.
• There are pieces of Javanese Culture, like names of pasaran -- Legi, Paing, Pon, Wage, Kliwon
• and names of month, like Pasa, Sawal, etc.
• and names of wuku, like Warigalit, Warigagung, Gelungan, etc.
• Here there is also a piece of Chinese Culture, like name of year -- Lak Qwee 2653.

Believe or not, all of these are results of 

very long processes happened in Java.
They live in harmony
